See what I did there? This balm is made from two ruminant animals and its minty..
I formulated this one for my mother in law! She had been having some issues with her feet, calluses etc, and wanted me to ask my sister, a podiatrist, for advice. My sister’s advice? She needs to moisturise her feet every night! Simple really isn’t it? I decided a new brew needed to be whipped up.
As much as I love tallow, obviously, I wanted this balm to be a thicker, waxier consistency. Thinking back to the days of breastfeeding my babies and all those free samples you get from your midwife, I remembered the product they used to recommend for cracked nipples, which contained Lanolin, the waxy substance secreted from the sebaceous glands of wool bearing animals to condition their wool.
In keeping with my ethos of Animal Based skincare I added some locally sourced Lanolin to help deeply nourish and moisturise dry cracked heels. Peppermint Essential Oil helps to soothe and invigorate your tired feet.
Rub some on your hooves before you go to bed, pop on some socks overnight and you will notice the difference the next morning
I also discovered it’s great for giving your hands a treat after gardening and housework and for a minty treat for your lips!

It’s Tallow, the gently rendered down fat of cattle raised on our farm in The Coromandel Peninsula, North Island of New Zealand.
We only use the highly prized, nutrient dense suet fat in our Tallow Balm. This is hand rendered at low temperatures to create a pure, golden liquid that is the perfect food for your skin to keep it moisturised, supple, nourished and glowing.
